Job Description
Clark College is currently accepting applications for a full-time, permanent classified Communications Consultant 3 (Digital Media Specialist) to join our Communications and Marketing team. You will be joining a team of creative professionals who value each team member’s voice—as well as the voices of our diverse students, colleagues, and stakeholders—as we collaborate to further the college’s mission of serving our community as an open-access institution of higher education. This position has an opportunity for a hybrid schedule with the option of a combination of days worked from home and days worked in the office.

This position works primarily under the supervision of the Communications Director to provide day-to-day support and management with multimedia storytelling, social media management, online content, and digital marketing support, as well as guidance on long-term digital communications and marketing strategies. Ensures social media posts accurately reflect the college branding, desired messages, effectively express information, and is culturally relevant. Applicants should have experience meeting deadlines, juggling multiple projects, and thinking strategically about how to best communicate information. They should be strong writers, competent photographers, have comfort capturing and editing social video, and able to analyze metrics and other data.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Monitor and maintain the college’s social media platforms, and work with the team to make recommendations for using emerging social media platforms, tools and capabilities.
  • Develop and drive social media strategy to increase brand awareness and engagement.
  • Plan strategic, creative approaches and produce fresh content to reach existing and new audiences.
  • Lead content creation and produce quality and engaging relevant content utilizing excellent copywriting and competent photography and video editing skills across a variety of formats (graphic design, photography, shortform video, live video, etc.).
  • Collaborate and work closely with other college departments on their social media channels.
  • Maintain an editorial calendar aligned with all communications and marketing strategies.
  • Provide recommendations for social media responses to crisis situations.
  • Monitor performance across each brand’s channels and campaigns, tracking impact and engagement, synthesizing learnings, and proactively adjusting tactics and strategies as needed.
  • Provide a high level of project management skills and independent drive.
  • Analyze and report on metrics to show Return on Investment.
  • Support the development and implementation of paid digital marketing plan.
  • Stay up-to-date on new developments and trends in digital marketing and social media.
  • Perform related duties as required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES:
Candidates will be evaluated based on application materials, including the supplemental questions and personal interview(s), and will be required to demonstrate competencies in the following areas:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or related field AND three (3) years of writing/editing experience OR Associate degree in Journalism, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or related field AND five (5) years of writing/editing experience.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite. Advanced writing skills including thorough knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation, composition, style and usage, and Associated Press (AP) Style.
  • Must be self-directed and able to work independently.

JOB READINESS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Willingness to work outside of normal work schedule on occasion to solve problems or assist with department initiatives.
  • Willingness to periodically travel between college main campus and satellite facilities.
  • Willingness to travel within the State of Washington and nationally to attend meetings, training sessions, and conferences for a period of up to five (5) days.
  • Ability to work well with people of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work quickly, accurately and thoroughly; and to establish and meet deadlines in an environment with frequent interruptions and sometimes tight timelines.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service that consistently meets or exceeds the needs of customers and clients.
  • Ability to represent the college on social channels; responding to questions and issues that arise.
  • The initial appointment will include a 6-month probationary period and the employee will earn permanent status after successfully completing probation. 
  • This position is represented by Washington Public Employees Association.

SALARY/BENEFITS: 

Salary Range: $4,385 - $5,900/month | Step A-M (commensurate with qualifications and experience) | Range: 51 | Code: 197K
Successful candidates typically start at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases.
