Job Description

The Aircraft Maintenance Manager assists in performing inspections on aircraft and is responsible for signing off on log books for all planes. This role manages the inspection process for approximately five locations in Iowa and Illinois in order to return the aircraft to service. The manager also performs maintenance, annual inspections, and repairs and troubleshoots issues as needed. This position also oversees the process of reviewing and approving work of Aviation and Powerplant Mechanics (A&Ps) but will not have any direct reports.

This position is with our aerial application business which operates under the name Diversified Applications, Inc. or DAI. DAI owns aerial application businesses throughout the United States. Our goal is to offer quality aerial application services from strategic locations across the country using our growing fleet of helicopters and fixed wing aircraft.

The employee's primary duty must be the performance of office or non-manual work directly related to the management or general business operations of Helena or Helena's customers. This also includes the exercise of discretion and independent judgement with respect to matters of significance.

What your day may look like

  • Ensures aircraft are maintained in conformity with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and manufacturer specifications.
  • Performs inspections, preventive maintenance, service troubleshooting and part replacements.
  • Inspects the work accomplished by Airframe and Powerplant Mechanics.
  • Maintains all necessary records and logbooks, including certification that the aircraft is approved and returned to service in the aircraft's permanent maintenance records.
  • Plans and prepares maintenance and/or repair estimates and determines the scope of work and personnel required.
  • Other administrative-related duties as assigned by leader.
  • Reliable and regular attendance is expected.

Education and experience needed for this position

  • Active and current FAA Airframe and Powerplant Mechanics certificate with current FAA Inspection Authorization required.
  • Four years of related work experience is required.
  • Experience with Bell & Hiller helicopters is preferred

Your work environment and the physical aspects of the job

The work environment for this position is that of a typical office environment where the noise level is mostly quiet. This position requires you to use your hands for many different tasks and to talk, hear, walk, stand and sit. You may be occasionally required to lift or move up to 10 pounds.
