POSITION OVERVIEW:
Responsible for the operation of machinery in the Dye House department in a textile manufacturing plant.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Move pallets of fabric, bales of wool fibers, and carts of yarn
  • Follow detailed specifications for fabric, wool fibers, and yarn
  • Sew fabric together
  • Load fabric, wool fibers, and yarn in machines
  • Measure and weigh dyes and chemicals
  • Operate machinery, including dye machines, yarn and stock dryers, overhead crane, and hydraulic press
  • Unload wet fabric, wool fibers, and yarn from machines
  • Check fabric, wool fibers, and yarn specifications
  • Clean machines and areas
  • Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge and accuracy of basic math, especially fractions and percentages
  • Basic ability to work with computers
  • Attention to detail
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to regularly push, pull, and lift various weights of chemicals and textiles with assistance
  • Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 2 or more years of production experience
  • Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Production Mill, requiring the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including hearing protection, safety glasses and face shields, aprons, gloves, and non-slip, steel-toed, and chemical resistant safety shoes
