THE POSITION

The Department of Housing Services is seeking a Homeless Services Equity Coordinator to join our team and support the work of providing housing stability in Washington County. This position will advance equity and racial justice in homeless services programs, supporting Department and community identified needs. The role will also integrate lived experience considerations and best and promising practices for reducing disparities in housing outcomes across programs, particularly focusing on addressing racial inequities.

The Homeless Services Equity Coordinator will serve on the Strategic Initiatives and Relations Branch of the Homeless Services Division. This position will establish and lead strategic initiatives that require collaboration across Department teams and with external partners. Initial key deliverables include establishing and convening the Culturally Specific Organizations Cohort and helping to lead the soon-to-be-established Lived Experience Advisory Council, ensuring their needs are considered in policy and processes within the County.

This position is hybrid, with the option of working remotely 2-3 days a week.

The ideal candidates we are looking for have:

  • Experience applying an equity lens in policy and programming processes, with knowledge and skill in advancing racial justice and understanding how systems of oppression intersect.
  • Advanced knowledge of the needs of and barriers faced by people of color experiencing homelessness or other forms of systemic oppression, including an understanding of current strategies and services available to those experiencing homelessness.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, collaborate, and present to a diverse range of internal partners, community partners and staff.
  • Experience building and maintaining positive and effective working relationships with a diverse range of partners, community partners, and staff.
  • Advanced experience in project management skills; organized approach to setting priorities and achieving objectives within a government setting.
  • Public meeting facilitation and presentation skills.
  • A desire to contribute to a positive, supportive, and safe work environment with a culture of teamwork and communication that centers diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a health, social service, business, or related field; AND three (3) years of work experience in program administration, development, evaluation, and/or contract administration. OR
  • Seven (7) years of work experience in program administration, development, evaluation, and/or contract administration.
Additional Licenses, Certificates, Physical Abilities, and Specialty Requirements:
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
  • Must possess a driver's license valid in the State of Oregon and have an acceptable driving record.

Selection Process:

  1. Minimum Qualification Review: A minimum qualification evaluation of training and experience of submitted application packets will be performed by Human Resources.
  2. Subject Matter Expert (SME) Review: A SME Panel will perform an evaluation of experience and training taken from your employment application materials including responses to the supplemental questionnaire.
  3. Panel Interviews: Our goal is to schedule oral panel interviews with candidates that successfully passed the SME evaluation step as soon as possible.
