SUMMARY: The Program Coordinator - Overdose Prevention is responsible for coordinating CCC's work related to overdose prevention and opioid safety. Key responsibilities include ensuring adequate and accessible naloxone and other drug user health supply inventory across CCC service lines, delivering opioid safety and overdose prevention technical assistance and training to CCC staff and community partners, and providing administrative and scheduling support to the Overdose Prevention Program. This position reports to the Director of Outreach Operations and Overdose Prevention

HOURS: M-F 8A-4:30P

LOCATION: Old Town Recovery Clinic

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as a safety champion across CCC, advancing opioid- and overdose-related safety for clients, staff, and the community.
  • Design, implement, manage, and continuously improve a community surveillance and safety improvement program for opioid safety, including:
  • Develop and manage processes to monitor use and overdose trends;
  • In partnership with CCC's client experience team, gather voice-of-the-customer data about opioid safety and overdose prevention; and
  • Provide routine and triggered reports on opioid use and overdose trends
  • Coordinate, evaluate, and continuously improve a program for the distribution and monitoring of naloxone and harm reduction supplies, including:
  • Ordering, picking up, and storing naloxone and harm reduction supplies within CCC;
  • Distributing of naloxone and harm reduction supplies within CCC;
  • Regularly auditing to ensure that naloxone and harm reduction supplies are accessible and appropriately stored.
  • In consultation with DOOOP, coordinate training, education, and community awareness efforts related to overdose prevention and overdose response, including:
  • Reviewing and replacing existing overdose prevention community education materials as needed;
  • Maintaining up-to-date understanding of overdose response and harm reduction best practices and translating these key data into community education and training materials.
  • Ensuring all materials reflect the perspective of and will be beneficial for people who use drugs (directly or indirectly).
  • In partnership with DOOOP, deliver overdose prevention and opioid safety training, education, and technical assistance to CCC staff, teams, and leaders across our continuum of services, using a variety of instructional techniques such as didactic lecture, role playing, experiential learning, team exercises, group discussions, and multi-media.
    1. Ensure all materials reflect the perspective of and will be beneficial for people who use drugs (directly or indirectly).
  • Provide administrative support to the Overdose Prevention Program (OPP), including:
    1. Note-taking during program and other meetings;
    2. Tracking purchasing expenditures and providing receipt management support as needed;
    3. Supporting compliance, quality assurance, and quality improvement activities as directed.

  • Ability to consider impacts of oppression, structural racism, and individual bias on client outcomes.
  • Knowledge of best practices in overdose prevention and drug user health promotion strategies.
  • Demonstrated commitment to harm reduction principles and techniques, and an inclusive approach that honors and values all pathways that support individual recovery.
  • Excellent customer service, including the ability to demonstrate diplomacy and tact with a wide range of constituencies under stressful circumstances.
  • Ability to effectively train and others.
  • Highly adaptable, with the ability to respond flexibly and positively to change and apply past learning to novel situations.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and appropriately both orally and in writing.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • HSD or GED required.
  • Required: Three (3) years of experience working with an under-served adult population experiencing mental illness, substance use, and/or houselessness in areas such as health care, social service, or safety net setting.
  • Required: Knowledge of harm reduction and overdose prevention best practices.
  • Required: high level of computer literacy, including the ability to learn new applications.
  • Preferred: Inventory experience.
  • Must possess a current driver's license, qualify as an Acceptable Driver as designated in Central City Concern's Fleet Safety policy. Must pass an initial drivers training within 60 days of being an approved driver and continued recertification training. If driving personal vehicle, must maintain vehicle insurance coverage of a minimum of $100,000/$300,000 personal auto liability coverage.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, TB test, and background check.
  • Ability to adhere to Central City Concern's drug-free workplace which encourages a safe, healthy and productive work environment and strictly complies with the Drug-Free Work Place Act of 1988. An employee shall not, in the workplace, unlawfully manufacture, distribute, dispense, possess or use a controlled substance or alcohol.
  • Physical ability to bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, reach, pull, and lift heavy objects.
  • Must adhere to agency's non-discrimination policies.
  • Must be able to effectively interact with co-workers and clients with diverse ethnic backgrounds, religious views, cultural backgrounds, lifestyles, and sexual orientations and treat each individual with respect and dignity.
  • Adhere to all state and federal privacy regulations, including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2, and to CCC policies and agreements regarding confidentiality, privacy, and security. Support compliance with all privacy and security requirements pursuant to community partners' and outside providers' patient confidentiality agreements, including privacy and security requirements for EMR access. This includes immediate reporting of any PHI breach of CCC or outside provider health records to the CCC Legal and Quality departments, as well as to the program administrator.
